At first I found it quite difficult to come up with an idea relating to the task, and then all of a sudden one came to me. I have been out on multiple occasions where friends have lost their mobile phones or have had them stolen, leaving them with no means of communication and possibly even leaving them in danger with no way of phoning for a taxi or a lift home, or even the police should an incident occur. So why not have a device that is much less likely to be misplaced, dropped or stolen? Perhaps a device that can be part of your everyday life, or adapting a device that already is? My first instinct was a bracelet, or a watch. Something that goes around the wrist is not so easily lost.
My initial thought was something similar to this. Simple and easy to wear. However there may be a couple of problems here in terms of attractiveness and security. As far as attractiveness goes, I think making the device customizable to customers will aid in the sales of the device. And in terms of security. I have thought of a concept which does not allow the device to be removed from the wrist, by either unstrapping or loosening, unless the user uses a voice, fingerprint, or maybe even retinal recognition, thus making the likelihood of theft of the device dramatically reduced.
